Talkamatic - Free Dialogue

Fredrik Kronlid, Ph.D., and former GSLT graduate student started the company Talkamatic after his dissertation.

A company which products are based on research from the department of Linguistics, Philosophy and Theory of Science, University of Gothenburg. The business idea is to build and sell multi modal dialogue systems based on research on human-human dialogue. Such systems enable vehicle OEMs and their suppliers to reduce the number of controls in the vehicle, to reduce the cost of development and translation and to offer their customers a safer driver environment and a more straightforward interaction with the in-vehicle electronics.

The Talkamatic technology means building a model of the dialogue and its context, inspired by research on human dialogue. The result is a free dialogue, borrowing many traits from human dialogue, for instance mechanisms for how to deal with uncertainty of what has been said, feedback, flexibility and topic-shifts.

Talkamatic was founded in february 2009 and is owned mainly by Staffan Larsson, Fredrik Kronlid and GU Holding AB.
